With this blog I thought I’d celebrate the seemingly mundane things we learn in childhood. They keep us grounded and connect us to the people in our lives. Making chocolate chip cookies is a skill I thought I had long forgotten. Turns out I was wrong.

I feel we should embrace being an amateur for as long as possible because it means we get to keep learning new things. Being an amateur means making mistakes, failing, being imperfect, but it also means improving, growing, overcoming. Amateurs represent unlimited potential. 

Fashion is in Krystian's blood. His grandfather was a tailor, giving Krystian access to different fabrics and teaching him how to use a sewing machine at an early age. Krystian followed in his grandfather's footsteps. Naturally, he gives great fashion advice.

When it comes to contracting, Rob is one of the best in the business. His journey started when he was just twenty-one (or fifteen if you ask his customers!) and his father started giving him extra jobs to do. Rob dove right into the work and quickly picked up difficult skills like wallpapering. Throughout his career, he never stopped learning, and has added carpentry, electrical, plumbing, small business management and more to his impressive list of skills.

From sourcing materials, such as copper and wood, to putting on the finishing touches, Deb doesn't shy away from unfamiliar material, technique, or people telling her that she's crazy.
